I was looking for inspiration for clearing my kitchen countertopsone component of my January goal to clean and organize all aspects of my kitchenand came across this beauty designed by Chango & Co.  Isn't this kitchen absolutely gorgeous?  Obviously no detail was overlooked.  Who wouldn't love to call this fresh and beautiful space their own?

nothing but navy.

I have a ridiculous obsession with all things navy.  If I had to guess, I would say that one-fourth of my closet is made up of navy clothing and accessories.  Not to mention the fact that my apartment decor is largely navy and white.  That said, it is no wonder that these four navy items found their way on to my wish list.  I am particularly smitten with the Tory Burch swimsuit, which has me longing for a vacation far, far away from this frigid winter weather.  A girl can dream, right?

today is as good a day as any.

Forty miles.  That is one of my January goalsto run forty miles.  To be honest, I am off to a weak start only having run five miles since January 1.  But, today is as good a day as any to more diligently work toward that goal and meet or exceed it by month's end.  After all, I know that running has great health benefits, but sometimes I just need motivation.

Mix up the music.  |  Everyone gets a little pep in their step when a great song comes on during a workout, right?  I like to download a few new, upbeat songs a week to make my workouts more enjoyable.  Or, I will try out a new Pandora station if there aren't any songs that strike my fancy.

Buy new workout clothes.  |  Maybe it has to do with the shopaholic in me, but there is nothing more motivating than new workout clothes.  Something as simple as a new Lululemon headband is enough to get me out the door and to the gym.

Set reasonable goals.  |  Know yourself and set goals that you can reasonably accomplish.  If you are anything like me, continually setting unrealistic goals makes it less likely you will continue working toward any goal and more likely you will simply give up.

Write it down.  |  When I write my goals down, it helps to keep my accountable knowing that these are real goals and not some unattainable ambition I have in my head.  In the spirit of accountability, my goal for this week is to run twenty-five milesfive miles, five days this week.

Reward yourself.  |  I don't reward myself for accomplishing every goal, but when I can anticipate a busy work week and I am likely to come home and plop down on the couch, I will come up with an incentive to stay on track.

How do you hold yourself accountable for your fitness goals?  What do you do to stay motivated?

kale and pb2 smoothie.

My New Year's resolution was to come up with a list of reasonable goals for each month of 2014.  One of my goals in January is to eat healthier, which has been going surprisingly well.  In light of my January goal, and in an effort to use some produce I had laying around my apartment that was starting to near the end of its life, I came up with a pretty amazing kale and PB2 smoothie recipe.

Cheers to healthy choices in 2014.

welcome to fresh.

Welcome to FRESH.  After starting, and later deleting, two blogs in which I lost interest, I've decided to give blogging another go as a way to keep myself accountable for my New Year's resolutions, as well as to provide a creative outlet.  I plan to share recipes, great shopping finds, appealing home decor, ideas for entertaining, and healthy habits.  Thank you for stopping by!
